Aurora Place was completed in 2000.
It is actually claded in a white laminated glass
and all windows are either rhomboids or squares.
It's height to roof/fin is 617ft /188m and to tip of spire is
718ft /219m. The spire itself is 295ft / 90m.
An aerial:

It is indeed a beautiful building, one of my favourite high rises in the world despite its modest proportions.

I could tip-toe the other day and touched the glass on an overhang @ street level. A white lattice sandwiched in-between the thick plates of glass. Just over 1/2 inch in width.
More architectural magazine-type pics :)

I like the arial, and the front face.
the side looks a bit icky in the day, but the night lighting make the lines much more apparant and lends some motion to the facade.
I like it.... :)

As far as the side looking "icky" i.e. the browny beige colouring,
it's not its true colour as its cladded in white laminated glass.
The pics that show the off colour may have been taken when the sun
was rising in the east, which that facade is facing.
Personally, I find Aurora Place Tower up-close a tad sterile,
but it looks superb on the Sydney skyline.
I'm sure that Piano had Aurora Place Tower and the 17 level Macquarie Apartments,
both part of Aurora Place on his resume to get the contract for the New York Times HQ.
The similarities are apparent i.e. the white laminated glass,
the enclosed atrium, the translucent crown and the mega spire/mast....

Truly my favorite building in Sydney. And in that last picture it kind of mirrors the opera house.

...and that wasn't accidental.
Renzo Piano detailed the translucent fins to compliment The Opera House.

True happiness has been found on Wired N.Y. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/love/yllove.gif  <---- that is the wink emoticon.
BTW here is a recent night pic of Aurora (and others) taken by tayser from the hydraulically
revolving Orbit Bar on the 46th top level of Australia Square Tower, which is now
the 11th tower tallest to roof in Sydney.
Aurora Place Tower of course in the middle of the shot below:

Question to all those who are more informed than myself. Has it not just been discovered that radical overemphasis IS emmeka? If that is the truth the above posts sure are weird to say the least.
