Hi !!

I am employed at the Office of the Environment in Frankfurt/Main. My daily
work is mainly the systematic checking of environmental requirements before
a new Frankfurt skyscraper is built (wind, shadow casting, energy efficieny
etc.) and I am currently writing my thesis on this topic at the University
of Heidelberg.
I would like to know if in Detroit or in other American cities there is
also a comparable kind of systematic checking of environmental requirements
done with regard to the building of skyscrapers. Could someone provide me with information or with
an address where I can receive information on this topic? Target of this
investigation is a comparison between Frankfurt, New York (or Detroit for example) and
Tokyo (or any other asian city).
Looking forward to receiving information,

Hans-Georg Dannert :)

Large projects in New York City are required to have a Draft Generic Enviromental Impact Statement. The DGEIS as it is often reffered to as is instituted by the New York State Public Service Commission which can be reached at (518) 474-7080 and conducted by the developer.

There are federal and various state EIS procedures.
