I realize that New York doesn't have a lot of old buildings but what is the oldest still standing? A friend told me it was in Brooklyn.

And the Award Goes To

By GEORGE ROBINSON

Q. What is the oldest building in New York designated by the city as a landmark?

A. In the holiday spirit, here are two for the price of one. Since the Landmarks Preservation Commission was established in 1965, the oldest building to become a landmark is the Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House (at Clarendon Road and Ralph Avenue in Flatlands, Brooklyn), which includes the oldest surviving structure in the city, built around 1652.

The youngest building is the Ford Foundation Building on East 42nd Street, which was completed in 1967.
