I am working on updating the World Trade Center (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/default.htm) section on Wired New York. It wasn't updated for over a year I guess. Without your help it will continue to be stale, so I am looking for input of the forum members. Itís another attempt at creating community-driven website. I need help with the following:

1. Overall structure of the World Trade Center (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/default.htm) section, what content to include, what links to provide, etc.
2. Content for the main World Trade Center page (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/default.htm).
3. Content for the Freedom Tower (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/freedom/default.htm) page
4. Content for the World Trade Center Memorial (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/memorial/default.htm) page.
5. Content for other relevant pages (such as 7 WTC, transit hub, etc.)

Since this type of collaboration is a new thing, there might be many ways to accomplish this: someone can write the whole text for a single page, such as Memorial (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/memorial/default.htm), letís say; or it can be done as collaboration of all interested forum members. Your thoughts on the best way to accomplish this are welcomed.

Edward, I think that other forumers would do a better job in compiling content for the various categories, esp. due to their expertise and background. But I volunteer my services as an assistant: proofreading, condensing copy, and other editorial help.

No doubt you will have a "Resource" section with links to further materials (e.g., the BBC online directory, etc.). I can assist in compiling some of these links and sending them to someone else for vetting.

I have enjoyed this website for a couple of years. It would be a privilege to make a small contribution toward its continued success and relevance.

Provided the content is gathered by someone with the greatest knowledge, I can write and or edit any page you like. If no one else comes forward, I could help research / write, but this is a tough group. I wouldn't want to come under fire for leaving out something important that I viewed as inconsequential. At your service (within my schedule) - let me know.

I'm usually the one asking the questions and gaining knowledge from the Wired New York "Elders".

But, I'd still be more then happy (In fact, honored) to lend a helping hand in the continued building of a dedicated New York City site.

I am glad to announce the first page that is a result of collaboration - The World Trade Center Transit Hub (http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/transit/) page. It was created with the help of BigMac.

I hope that this page would be a first step in creating community-driven website. If anyone would like to contribute - to any World Trade Center related page, or any other page on Wired New York, for that matter, let me know.

I would like to renew the request for community input regarding the content for Wired New York pages, especially WTC-related.

There was not much progress made since my last request a year ago. Perhaps considering the enthusiasm about the new Freedom Tower design, this is going to be more successful this time.

I think the system of wikis might work in this case, where someone writes the first draft, and then other members add to that and make corrections.

I have some content you might be interested in, assuming you're still working on upgrading the WTC pages. It's a work in progress, but I'll probably have it done before I go back for summer classes on the 30th. I was hoping to actually upload a model to my own website that would allow you to walk through the site and surrounding blocks. However, this model has ballooned into a monster that the average PC would choke and die on, nevermind bandwidth issues. So at this point, I figure I can still render stills and animations, allowing people to view angles that are no longer available and no existing photographs depict.

Yes this is a new thing, so I look at wikipedia, wikimaps, and the like for ideas on how to contribute.

I will provide content (links, graphics, photos, ect.) as often as I can.

cheers

STR - Do you have any models of Freedom Tower?

Yes, but it's not as detailed as the Twin Towers. The NY skyline can be transfered between either model.
