I know of the major galleries and I plan on visiting The Met and the Museum of Natural History. I was wondering if there is a museum that features some of the art of H. R. Giger or other similar artists. Also, if I had to choose between the Air and Space Museum and the Guggenheim, which would be the wiser choice? I realize that they are vastly different but I just wanted some opinions.

I would appreciate any advice on any of the galleries. I know that to properly visit the NY galleries, I would have to live there for years.

The Guggenheim, its right in the area with your other itineraries. Its at the apex of Museum Mile. Furthermore I've always thought that the Intrepid was a huge (no pun intended) tourist trap.

And as far as galleries go check out the Art Students League. You'll also want to check out TONY for gallery showings especially if your looking for a particular art or artist.

Its a magazine, Time Out New York. There are also specialty books printed by TONY, you can buy the magazine at any news stand and there books at larger book stores.

Going to Chelsea galleries could be a lot of fun (and might take all day). There are hundreds of galleries - literally - concentrated in a small area between 10th and 11th Avenues and 20th and 26th Streets. You can just go to the corner of 10th Avenue and 24th Street and proceed West.
