Shutter To Think Of More Picturesque Spots Than These

A big part of any vacation is taking photographs to show family and friends, or at the very least prove that you were there. Popular Photography & Imaging magazine recently teamed up with America Online to find out which U.S. cities and landmarks were the favorites among travelers with cameras.

The results, from more than 37,000 respondents:

1. New York (22%). Our hometown was tops among picture snappers with photogenic locations like Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.

2. Honolulu (21%). Hawaii’s largest city was a close second, thanks to its beaches, surfing and surrounding tropical environment.

3. Miami (16%). The glittering skyline, art deco of South Beach and abundance of sand and sun make this city a favorite backdrop for photos.

4. Los Angeles (10%). Tinseltown is the place to snap shots of your favorite celebs, the Walk of Fame and the iconic Holly-wood sign overlooking the city.

4. San Francisco (10%). The Golden Gate bridge is the most photographed bridge in the country, and other city landmarks like Lombard St. and Alcatraz Island make it into picture albums as well.

6. Washington (8%). The nation’s capital’s most snapped locales include the Washington Monument, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and of course the White House.

7. New Orleans (7%). The Big Easy’s Bourbon St. and distinct architecture make this southern jewel an ideal setting for great photographs.

8. Chicago (6%). The Windy City is home to picturesque spots like the Sears Tower and Wrigley Field.
