Hi there I am coming across from the UK in the next few weeks to catch up with some friends. We are really big music fans, and I was wondering if you can suggest some clubs where the indie/rock scene takes place in new york.

Go to Williamsburg. Ask someone ironically pretending to have emerged from a timewarp from 1976.

1976 is so 2004. 1991 is the wave of the hipster future, I hear.

Just kidding. What sort of indie bands are you into? You'll probably not only have your pick of venues, but your pick of bands you might even listen to already. Boy, I feel about a million years old when I hear about the kids and their indie rock scene.

Check out the indie rock music blogs:

www.brooklynvegan.com (http://www.brooklynvegan.com)

and

www.stereogum.com (http://www.stereogum.com)

These are NYC based blogs, and constantly update shows and upcoming concerts. Other than Pitchfork Media, these two sites are the indie kids guide book.
