I am looking for a studio or 1br condo in a luxury highrise. Unfortunately, my price range in <$300k (the lower the better). From my research, it appears that the most affordable condos are located in the Battery Park City area. I have also looked into new contruction (since I am currently in a lease right now), but those seem to be very expensive. I am open to any area of Manhattan. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could definitely find a place in Park Slope or Williamsburg for that amount. Send me a Private Message if you want suggestions.

There were already a bunch of 10-20 floor buildings there, mostly middle income city housing. Schaefer Landing under construction now is 3 highrises.

Wow, it looks like just what I wanted. Unfortunately, it seems like I might be a little late on this one. Know of any others?

You're not late. The project is nowhere near complete. www.schaeferlanding.com

I've always loved Battery Park City--even though it will be a few years before i'll be able to move to NYC, what do studios or 1 bedroom aparments usually run around there(rent-wise). And with rent, how long do most building usually allow you to stay? I've seen some where they're only available for a year----but in most cases, you can stay as long as you please(if you abide by all the rules and pay rent, of course), right??

Pottebaum - in battery park city, you can get a 1 bedroom in the south part for less than 2k if you are willing to go with one of the older buildings owned by Milford Management.
