I noticed on the MTA website that you can purchase a 7 day unlimited ride metro card for $24. If i were to buy one of these then pass it back to the person with me would it let them through too? Does MTA prevent this from happening in someway?

Yeah...they do. There is a 10 minute window time between the ability to use the card. They figure that way, people won't stand in front of a turnstyle selling half priced entry into the subways.

It might be five minutes but I know there is a short time wait before you can get a GO swipe again.

Hope that helped.

Close, Yankee, the blackout period is 17 minutes in order to prevent card sharing.

Kmistic, you might want to buy a $10 MetroCard for your time here. Each $10 card gives you an extra free ride, plus it allows for bus transfers.

Yeah, I ended up doing that.

I also learned that unlimited ride cards are not vailid for the airtrain at JFK.
