Hi,
I've been around google maps for a while trying to figure it out where is some places i'm looking for. But I need some help... If you don't mind, zoom it out so I can pin point the exact location. If you don't know how to navigate through google maps here's q uick explanation. You have all the necessary buttons on the top left corner of the map area. You can use the cursor keys to move the map in lower increments and then just copy the link located in the "link to this page" link on the right.

For instance, some examples, and you can also tell me if I am correct:

New York
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&spn...,0.058375&hl=en (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&spn=0.028503,0.058375&hl=en)

Times Square
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=...,0.014594&hl=en (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=40.758377,-73.985065&spn=0.007126,0.014594&hl=en)

Scene Location for the movie Phone Booth (don't ask...)
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=...,0.007297&hl=en (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=40.763855,-73.983780&spn=0.003563,0.007297&hl=en)

Some other places that I would like to know exactly where they are the Empire State Building, Rockfeller Center (this is where Conan O'Brien is filmed right?) and the place ehre the WTC used to be.

My trip to new york is all programmed already and on the program says that i'm going to visit things like the Harlem area and we'll participate on a Gospel mass and later we'll have the possibility to watch a mass on St. Patrick. I don't know if there are a lot of churchs and so on, so I can't pin point where this might be.
I will also take a walk on Central Park (I know this one :p), China Town and Little Italy. Searching for these last 2 on google maps, I found lots of stuff so I don't know exactly where I'm going and what represents what.
On another day, I'll head to a New Jersey mall wich says here that is considered the biggest of the area. I'll also watch some play on some broadway theater but skip this one as it doesn't tell wich theater is so...
So, if you know where these things may happen, please provide a link to the map tothe exact location.

In one of the days i'll have dinner at Sardi's Restaurant. If I pin pointed it correctly, this is located near times square, right or wrong? (I mean, here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=sardi's+...,0.029188&hl=en (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=sardi's+restaurant&ll=40.758000,-73.988000&sll=40.753052,-73.989158&spn=0.014252,0.028594&sspn=0.014252,0.029188&hl=en))

This one may seem a little bit stupid but, the statue of liberty is located on liberty island? Or in another question, here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=...,0.014594&hl=en (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=40.689835,-74.045754&spn=0.007126,0.014594&hl=en)?

To finish, if you could give me links to other points of interest so I could visit, it would be great. But not too far away from the ones I already pointed.

TIA

Hi there,

Nice to hear that you're visiting..! You're questions are not stupid at all :)

New York is actualy a very big city.... The actualy NYC area is 5 boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.

Have a look at this map for a better idea:
http://130.166.124.2/atlas.nyc/ny0.GIF

The map of New York you had is really only downtown Manhattan. If you look at the link I jsut posted, the area you have on your map is the bottom end of Manhattan, and Manhattan is an island.

You have located Times Square correctly :) it is the area where Broadway crosses all the other streets.

I don't know where the movie phone booth was filmed so I can't really help wih that, sorry.

I'm pretty sure this is the WTC area:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=40.763855,-73.983780&spn=0.003563,0.007297&hl=en

Yes, the statue of Liberty is on an island, here it is in comparison with the bottom tip of Manhattan:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=new+york&ll=40.689835,-74.045754&spn=0.007126,0.014594&hl=en
You can get to it by taking a ferry. There is a ferry from Battery Park that goes straight to it, and it costs. You can walk around the island etc... The neighbpurgin Ellis Island has the old Immigration museum (what is it called exactly??) but it's the palce where everyone used to pass through to move to the US and now it's a museum. There's also a free ferry to Staten Island which you can see the statue of liberty with, but it doesn't stop close, but you can still see it :)

The Subway map (PDF format) has the areas of Little Italy and Chinatown marked out, although nt in great detail, and I'm useless in providing exact locatiosn, so maybe someone else can advise, but here it is...

All the main tourist attractions are on Manhattan, although things like the transport museum are located in Brooklyn. Theres a few other sites outside Manhattan but it really depends on how far you want to travel out. Get the unlimited metrocard and travel around, otherwise it's a $2.00 journey anywhere.

thanks for the extensive post... about NYC boroughs, I didn't know it was divided like that but anyway, I'll probably be on manhattan only and brooklyn in the sardi's restaurant.

the whole trip is already planned, the palces and all that, but there's always time for a bit more that's why I want to know all this stuff.

about the phone booth movie, almost in the beginning of the movie when the guy delivers a pizza to a phone booth he actually says the location of that phone booth wich is 53rd street between broadyway and 8 ave. If he's telling the truth or not, I don't know, but I guess there's no point in misleading the audience on that...

the links you posted seem exactly like mine, maybe you didn't copy them correctly? and what about empire state building and rockfeller center, can't you locate them too for me?

I can't wait for this trip, I'm going to take so much pictures of everything :D I'm from Portugal (Europe) by the way... just in case you're wondering :P

thankce once again.

wel... on the very beginning of the movie it's stated that that was the last phone booth of it's kind that was about to be demolished the next day. the movie is from 2002 so... I don't know if all what was said on the movie was tru or not. if it was and if the phone booth was not there already when the movie was shot, maybe they just rebuilt a fake on from the movie on that place.

about the other locations, can someone help me?
