So I can't sleep, I'm stumbling around the website, and I come across the Park Avenue Atrium. Why bother clicking it? My aunt works in the building! [Warburg Pincus, 11th floor I think] It's an okay buildings, the atrium is very nice actually, but I've always thought of it as stumpy.......

Then I read that another million square feet of space might be added by a 50 story tower on top! Holy crap!!! That would be just awesome, the location is awesome, lex/46th. I'm going to show the link to my aunt tomorrow and she if she knows anything about it, or can ask her superiors about it.

I apologize if there's already a link for this building. I was just so shocked when I came across it. Anyone have any info? Thanks! I'll post tomorrow about it too if I hear anything.

Ya it was an old plan by Max Capital. Lethargic plan now.

:( I would say check out the awesome atrium but there's too much security in there nowadays. And if the tower was built the atrium would probably vanish too. So it's not a total loss I guess.

I was able to walk through the atrium a few weeks ago. I gave the excuse of trying to get to one of the retail places inside. The plan for the addition was definitely impressive, and I don't think the atrium would have disappeared. I don't think there was that great a need for it. There are a couple sites further up on Lexington that are prime for a demolition/new highrise. In fact there's a thread about a possible new building on Lexington & 51st, though it hasn't been active in a while. There are also plenty of other sites in Midtown that are underused and are better suited for a new 50 story building.
