hi mix 106,
i love portugal. I stayed there 1,5 year ago for 2,5 months. I travelled
from lisboa to porto, coimbra, sintra, obidos, lagos and sevilha, cadiz and jerez in spain. I would love to visit again. Bairro Alto, Sintra and Bucaco were the best.
And of course scenery by the atlantic, I joined 2-day trailride in the south.

Thanks mix, I`m not a pro photographer but it`s part of my job which is graphic design.

i visited portugal april and may 2004 and liked nature and portuguese old architecture the most. Itīs sad that beautiful buildings for instance in Lisbon are in so bad condition. i hope they`ll restore them before it`s too late. And I also liked portuguese people, you are a little bit like us here in northern europe :).

Thank you!
Another set of amazing photos! Congratulations!!! ;)
And i am afraid that our beautiful and old buildings will not be recovered soon!
Because our country doesnt have much money to spend in those things. We are much more concerned about building other kind of stuff. I think that is not right. :(

(off-topic)I think we have more stuff in common...LOL
I wanna be a graphic designer and i am studying very hard to be one but i dont have any ideia what kind of computer programs you graphic designers use. Can you help me please? And what kind of stuff you do with that programs?!

Funny to discuss about portugal in new york-forum :D

answer to your OT question:
photoshop - for photograph editing and stuff, web-graphics
freehand -for vectorgraphics and for exsample designing bookcovers, brochures
indesign -book, brochure layouts etc
pagemaker -book, brochure layouts etc
illustrator -vector graphics

if you want to know more, or discuss about portugal and so on, it would be better if we continue with email :) sanna_hyvarinen@yahoo.com ,and not a whole world would see it :D

BEAUTIFUL PICTURES!

I had been considering a trip to Lisbon (and any day trips from there) for a while. Then, we got George W. Bush in office making Americans in general look like morons.

Can you tell me how the country views Americans? Would we be treated well? And, (this is such an American question) will I be able to get by speaking only English?

My friend BrooklynRider... Portugal views Americans as the most powerful nation in the world! But some (ok, many) people think that George W. Bush is the one who makes the USA look like a selfish Nation. Answering your second question... we portuguese people are very kind for our visitors;) . We are very warm for travellers so you would be treated well, of course. No matter the country you belong to!!! Now lets move to the 3rd question. If you wanna come to Portugal you just need to know what kind of people you should talk to. You should talk to young people or middle-age people because the old people cant speak english very well. If you talk to this people i mentioned above you wont have much problems here!!!

I hope that helps!!!

one of the rare????? I think people in most European countries speak English as their 2th or 3th language. Especially in Western an Northern Europe most people speak English rather good (or understand it). (the Scandinavian country's, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany (parts of Germany and the cities), Iceland, even England and Ireland ;-)
In the smaller country's most people speak or understand 2 or more languages.
In the South of Europe and in Eastern Europe, only young people speak English well. In country's like France, Spain and Italy (3 of the great country's of the world), most people don't speak an other language than their native language. Except in the big cities like Paris of course.

this was an opinion from a scandic girl ;)
I think scandic (not including me!!) and dutch speak GOOD english.
Based on my experience (and Iīve travelled in about twenty countries in europe).

I've been in Paris a couple of times, and I'm still surprised about how few people do speak any English. Even at McDonald's they hardly speak anything else than French, I'm glad I've learned a bit French at school, enough to order a "Royale with Cheese". Buying the right metrocard however still is a whole different story...

I'm from Belgium myself. I think most Belgians speak or understand 2,3 or 4 languages. In school we learn dutch (of course), french (our 2th language), english (most belgians speak english even much better than french) and german (to understand german is OK, but to speak it properly is whole different story). And than there are still people who think that isn't enough and go study an other language like italian, spanish, ... (not me, I even hated french in school)
So I think you can say, that most Belgians are good with languages (the Flemish part of Belgium that is). But we have to, being a small country with 3 different languages (flemish=dutch, french and even a very small part of Belgium where people speak german) and being in the middle of Europe.

here in finland (and I think in sweden, denmark, norway and iceland)
english is our first foreign language. We study it for 9 years 2 hours a week and in university studying continues. It has been said that even a bums in
finland speak amazingly good english :D
And one reason for good english is that tv programmes are not dubbed like in
many countries in europe. In portugal they donīt dub either.

in my opinion dubbing should be banned ;)

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm glad we don't have to see those awful dubbed movies like in big European country's like France and Germany.
