Hi, first time poster here so be gentle! We are wanting to stay in New York for around 3 weeks (Dec 12-Jan 07) and were wondering the cheapest way of doing this? Does New York have holiday apartments that might work out cheaper than a hotel? Or maybe you know of a small hotel that will give us a long term discount for staying for that long? Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Try a google search for "bed and breakfast" in NYC or Manhattan or Brooklyn or other areas. There are a number of situations available, often in a spare room where you share the rest of the place with the owner / prime tenant.

You're coming at the height of the holiday season so I don't know how lucky you'll be on getting any sort of deals.
