Thanks for these photos of our urban oasis, Bryant Park. It truly is a little paradise in Midtown. And the history...the Reservoir, the Crystal Palace...

^^^Panorama above: IMO the new building on Madison, while bad, doesn´t detract from the view as much as the truly awful skinny tower in front of it.

This is the view where the Republic National Bank building works beautifully: that´s good, honest, modern architecture.

For me, that post-modern tower with the crown is cringe worthy...and looks especially goofy in-between those 2 towers that are the "real thing". A 30´s style crown, with a huge, expansive bay-window underneath...McMansion architecture.

Does any one here remember Bryant Park in the 1970´s? It was so bad I think it was completely closed off for a while. And around the corner....the Library steps....OMG....it hardcore homeless and people on-leave from mental institutions.
