I like vacation better.

I went to work and it was actually cool outside I was very relieved. It was the first day in over a month I did not bring an umbrella to work.
I ate a bagel for breakfast and a salad for lunch. I had steamed veggies for dinner. I went to the bank three times to make deposits. In between all of that, I worked.
I'm eating Quadratini Italian cookies right now.

Speaking of vacations.. I need one. I haven't exactly been doing much, but I need to get away from here... this is the first time in around ten years we haven't gone away some time during the summer. Work and school schedules in the family ended up preventing anything.

I started a new job, so no vacation. But, I spent Sunday out at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, Long Island. Home of Teddy Roosevelt. Now, THAT'S a beautiful home. And, he was very involved in the design. I recommend it, if you need a day trip.

How do you get there (without a car)... Long Island railroad?

I have a car, but Long Island Rail Road goes to Oyster Bay or Cold Spring Harbor. You can take a cab from either.

Yesterday, I went to work, browsed the internet ;), came home and went to the dry-cleaners, then went the gym and got flirted with :), then got my haircut. After getting home I had chinese food delivered and then watched a little TV - the Six Feet Under recap I had recorded earlier.

Yesterday I went to work (today is my last day), watched auditions for the play that they're doing (I work[ed] at a theatre company), got a call from two friends I worked with and went down to meet them at Union Square, saw an anti-war protest there, went to a play reading at work, met up with some friends of one of my friends and took them to a hookah bar, escorted them back to Grand Central, went back to the Village with one friend who lives in my neighborhood and had falafel, then took the subway home. Went to sleep around 3:00 am.

I have to say, that is probably the best theater I've seen in the city. I like the mood at Cinema Village, but it's so cramped.
Judging by all the reviews I've read, I must be the only person who didn't swoon for Darwin's Nightmare. I thought the director bit off far more than he could chew. He managed to hit upon poverty, environmentalism, globalism, AIDS, prostitution, murder, corruption, arms trading and pretty much everything else you can think of, without hitting the mark on any of the subjects.

Today (yesterday) I woke up at about 4 PM (not sure why...) and went to Manhattan to see yet another place. I liked it lots. A little too far from school but not that bad. The parent has a problem with three of the roomies having a beer in hand. One of them is leaving anyway though. It's also rather expensive ($850/mo excluding if I want cable internet). But I am getting kinda desperate for a place to live nowadays...

I agree. I think avatars have a way of skewing a person's perspective. I don't know if I really expected you to look like Keanu (your old avatar), but I formed an image in my head. (Poor Zippy, what will we think when we actually see him).

Thanks.
Today I went to my first English/composition class and it was ok, the prof. is pretty funny. The room sucks (small and windowless) but he's already requested a change.
I also got keys for my place on 147th and went to an art supply store on Broadway at 112th to buy stuff for arch. - $262.90 worth of stuff, I carried this huge back with things sticking out and held three taped boxes/tubes under the other arm and wore my bag on my shoulder. Needless to say my arms were a little burny by the time I got back to the studio. I then started on my studio HW - annoying, and the TA thinks I'm not going in the right direction but the assignment is kinda vague and it's the first one anyway.
Speaking of studio.. Stern, are you in it?

This morning I finally decided to get rid of a HUGE glass jar full of Lira in loose change. The Lira is out of circulatation but the Bank of Italia will still convert them into Euros. They just dump them into this machine that sorts them out.
I put the jar... must have weighed at least 30 kilos... into a backback. I hauled it across town on foot, pausing now and then to rest, and to answer nosy questions. I finally got to the bank, set the knap sack down on the counter, unzipped it and found 30 kilos of loose change mixed with shards of broken glass.
I was informed by the teller that, "the machine does not accept broken glass".

Just got in from eating at Thalia and seeing the new Broadway musical "Spring Awakening" - a great restaurant, a phenomenal show and the hottest ticket on Broadway.
It was the Christmas gift from my partner and me to my mom, sisters and brother-in-law for helping me out during this recovery from being hit by a car. Being suburbanites steeped in Olive Gardens and Disney On Ice, they hated the restaurant menu and hated the show - and were considerate enough to let me know it.
Next time a speeding car is heading toward me, I'm gonna roll myself under the front wheel to ensure I don't have to endure another evening like this.
Oh look, it's New Year's Eve! Guess what people aren't getting calls from me at midnight?

Just found out I didn't get it.
To be honest though, I wasn't expecting to. They were a high profile agency with some amazing clients and I was rather nervous during the interview. Normally I'm cool with interviews and stuff, but there was just something about this place that made me feel intimidated. I got the impression they wanted somebody who was more extrovert.
Anyway... I'm actually thinking of setting my own company up now and working from home. In the last year I've become totally disillusioned with the whole 9-5 office grind, to the point that I'm rather sick of it. I'd rather be my own boss, set my own rules, and do what the hell I want to do. I'm writing a novel as well, so being at home will allow me to concentrate more time on that.

Ummm... I don't know.. I don't drink beer myself (I'm only 12, and from what I've tried it's... very bitter...) But some of the major NZ brands are Speights, Lion Red and Heinaken. If you Google (http://www.google.com) them or search Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org) you should be able to find some information about them. :D
Oh, and I'm not implying that I've been to a pub (for someone like Lofter, who would most likely make some kind of comment on why I've been drinking :D). My dad gave me some when I asked if I could try it (and I hated it).

Hmm... GMT is Grinvich Meridian Time, but it is in U.K., where twice per year changing time too. Is GMT changing?
I don't know, in Russia all orient to Moscow time. And time periods calls "Winter Time" and "Summer Time".

Yes, well, the Lord of the Rings was mostly visual effects.
Nah - our country is a very nice place to live. There is a LOT of greenery (forests, bushes etc) and the urban areas are very colourful and active.
But anyway, we're straying off the subject - to revert back, today I went and explored downtown Auckland for locations for my 9/11 film (mainly the staircases in Aotea Square for the WTC internal staircases - there are some very cool stairs for underground carparks - and also, and underground carpark for the setting of the 1993 bombing).
WebErr, PM me if you want to know anything about New Zealand/Auckland :)

New Zealand is one of the few beautiful, unspoiled areas in the world that are habitable. (Of course, Antarctica is beautiful and unspoiled, but what human would want to live there year round?)

Today is the day that the Tax Man cometh to the U.S. All Americans have to give the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) either their tax returns OR applications for tax extension deadlines. That is the easiest way I can explain it.
One of my careers is part-time accountant. Today I am filing for tax deadline extensions for my clients. Yesterday I filed for extensions. The day before I filed for extensions... etc. etc. etc. All my clients get extensions.:)
And so it is time for me to go and work without sleep until 12 midnight!

Who wants to rest? There's plenty of time to rest when you're dead!
But I may forget about being dead and just stay up until ten o'clock (1 hour 40 minutes away). I've been doing it every night since the start of the school holidays, and since this is the last week of the holidays, i might as well enjoy it. :D

A camera can be such a burden.
For years when I traveled I left my camera home.
I found, however, that the film in my brain is subject to fading.

June 24th, 2007, 03:33 AM
Yup, it was definitely a conscious decision to leave it home.:)
Just wasn't in the mood, though I knew there'd be plenty of great shots to be had.
There was lots of energy out there, and the full range of body types with all the piercings, tattoos, and tits you could imagine. Local sales of pasties must skyrocket around this time! Also managed to spot a couple of muscleheads in an old fashioned brawl on the boardwalk! Ahuh, a crowd of onlookers gathered around and the whole bit. Wished I had my camera for that. Coney was definitely in rare form today.
Despite the big area boarded up by Thor, there was so much going on; thousands enjoying the beautiful weather and grand spectacle of humanity.
BUT... after a few hours of walking on the wild side, I was definitely ready to head back to the relative calm and civility of Manhattan.

You say that you will be going to Moscow as casually as I would say I am going to Jersey. I wish you lots of luck!It was routine. Nothing interesting. I saw Moscow million times.
About "Red Army": Nothing interesting too. I have very ill eyes (near-sighted) for to be drafted in Russian Army. In Russia army is not by the contracts, but draft every man 18-27 years old, who is not ill, not studying in university or colledge and have not child younger than 3 years old.
It is bad inheritance of U.S.S.R., atavism, contract amry is much wiser, imho.

Had brunch with a friend in the Meat Packing District. Window shopped around Soho. Went home, bummed around the apartment, surfed the web and watched TV. Went out to dinner at The View (http://nymag.com/listings/bar/the_view_lounge/), where we could see fireworks shows in several different directions. Walked home in the rain.

I was in Hong Kong for a week, and used the internet a couple of times, but didn't find any evidence of censorship at all. Apparently in the rest of China they have a rather 'ad hoc' approach to the internet, some sites are banned, others allowed, and this can vary from city to city. In Beijing i only used the hotel internet to check my yahoo mail and didn't spend much time on the net apart from that.
As for what i did today - i was in bed. I'm working night shifts this week :(
