An 80-room 20-story Comfort Inn (http://www.wirednewyork.com/hotels/comfort_inn/) is scheduled to open by the end of the year at 305 W 39th Street. The Comfort Inn is being developed by M&R Hospitality, which bought the site last July for $2.6 million. It will be the third Comfort Inn in Manhattan.

You are correct, sir. 8th Avenue is crap central. However, as per my alchemy theory, the crap is being redeloped into gold bit by bit. (That being said, the crap surrounding the hotel must be demolished.)

This thing has gone up this far in just about 4 weeks.
Kinda screws up that big parcel that would make a great developer's plot.

You can bet that Comfort Inn is going to be instant eyesore architecture.... look at the beautiful assemblage of old brick loft and office buildings in the background surrounding it. The slender shape would be fine if it could have similiar color brick facing and window openings in the same proportions as the other buildings.... but you know thats not going to happen.

You know it is going to be the worst of pre-constructed brick slabs and crappy little windows. Hope the Comfort Inn folks surprise me.
But at least the guests at the Comfort Inn should have a great time at "La Escuelita" bar next door: http://www.escuelita.com/

Well, that's ok; after londonlawyer gets them to replace the crap buildings in the foreground with a nice, glossy high-rise, you won't be able to see it anymore.
At least it won't take up hundreds of feet of street frontage with boredom.

Seriously, Comfort Inn has really, really cheap looking buildings with not too much effort put into their design. Peter Poon does a lot of stuff like this now, he should be banned from practicing or something.
