Hi, I'm visiting New York at the moment and have a couple of questions.

How do I get from Manhattan to New Jersey by ferry? I'd like to go over and get some views of Manhattan. Can anyone recommend any good viewpoints / parks around the ferry terminal?

Will there be any big cruising ship arriving to New York this week, like the QM2, and if so, at what time? I wasn't able to find the times at this site although I remember seeing them before.

Thanks

Cruise schedule for September:
http://www.nycruiseterminal.com/calpgs/sept.htm

QM2 and Carnival Legend visiting tomorrow, Golden Princess Saturday, Norwegian Dawn and Crown on Sunday.

Ships leave around 4-5 pm. Use NY Waterway ferry from Pier 78 to get to Weehawken, nice view from the cliff.

An excellent resource for looking up ocean liner and cruise ship schedules is the web site of the Port of New York Branch of the World Ship Society, http://www.worldshipny.com/. The Branch's members are avid ship fans, and its site has a wealth of information and photos in addition to the ship schedules.

Take one of the ferry's downtown(from Battery Park area)to Liberty State Park or Jersey City. That way you can take pictures with the downtown buildings or maybe the Staue of Liberty as a background. If you time it right you can be on the Staten Island Ferry when "your ship comes in".That way you could complete the triple threat.(Downtown buildings, large ship AND the Statue of Liberty in one shot)Truly a travel advertising dream shot.
