If you've lived in NYC long enough chances are you've had to deal with a lawyer.
Those experiences might make one understand the thinking behind Shakespeare's famous line:
"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers"
(King Henry VI Part 2; Act IV, Scene II)
This thread is for lawyer stories.
Landlord/tenant lawyers.
Divorce lawyers.
Estate lawyers.
Any kind of lawyer you might have come across.
Good, bad & ugly.
And for inquiries, feedback and information regarding those who "practice" law.

Thanks for the info.
I know it might take a while to break the ice on this one.
After all it's pretty scary to get a lawyer on your bad side.

I am a lawyer, but I deal only with corporations.

You must have some really good stories then!

Large ones or small ones?
Large ones.

Not really. It's kind of boring.

Count yourself lucky. All of my stories come from the cesspool of NYC Housing Court.

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too
I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this
I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The sh*t has hit the fan
Send lawyers, guns and money...
(PS, mods, check the filter, the ctrl-v of the lyrics let all of the "sh*t" through, I edited it to be nice...)

Ninja: Any chance you have an audio file for this?

Good evening everybody.
As a lawyer, I would have to say that you learn a lot about human nature, and why people do cruel things. Trust me, I act for a lot of women. Women who were once kind beings, but who have now have separated from their knights in shining Armani.
It can put you off relationships quite a bit.
But I thank the heavens every day (and those firms who would never employ a badminton player) that I don't act for the government, or worse still, Big Corporations.
If I did, not only would I be bitter and twisted, I probably wouldn't have time to practise my badminton game, or read about Ancient Japan.
Have a great day.

You're quite accomplished for a 32 year old.

Schadenfrau.
Thanks for the comment, but I have to disgree, sorry.
How could I disagree?
Well, go back about 60 years. A guy similar to me could already by his early thirties have:
1, Been a Pacific War Combat Pilot, whether he was from Omaha, NYC or LA (ages 18-25)
2, If he survived that, likely have been a Korean War Combat Pilot (ages 23-30)
3, Between the wars, studied law and entered practice
4, If he had shown aptitude, tried out for the NASA programme
5, All without the use of the internet or what I am doing now (wasting time - but having fun nontheless).
I regard the modest achievements in my life as somewhat more limited in scope.
But I do admire yours, especially getting up so early - or was it a late night?

I'm an insomniac, but that doesn't mean I ever get anything accomplished, unfortunately.

Is it unfortunate for you, or for the people you accomplish "anything" for?
;)

If you're trying to take a swipe at me, it would be helpful if you made some sense, Ninjahedge.

>sigh<
If you need it explained to you, I will be more than happy (not) doing so.
Here it is Shady Woman:
"but that doesn't mean I ever get anything accomplished, unfortunately"
Unfortunately for us, you do accomplish things for people. Meaning that the things you do are probably not in anyones best interests as shown by your sunny attitude and overall good natured diplomatic presence.
It is meant as a side clip lambasting your profession (whatever that may be) and comparing what you do to something undesirable that does not really benefit anyone.
So, instead of coming up with a quick witted and feisty rejoinder, you result to the time honored reply of "I don't get it".
GJ!!!!
GG!!!!!

I am surprised. I did not think they had the stomach for that......
