Hi all,
I'm coming over in a week's time from the UK to gaze in awe and wonder at New york.
Any advice on getting to our hotel from JFK (Saturday midday). Obviously, I don't want to waste too much time in getting to the hotel. I assume taxi would be quickest but is there another option? (bus, train etc.)
Thanks all.
Mike.
p.s. Any ballpark ideas of costs?

JFK > midtown by cab: ~ 1 hour, ~ $45.

Airporter Bus to Grand Central area: ~ $15 / person + Cab to hotel

IMO Train with luggage is a pain ...

Depending on your hotel there might be bus service for that hotel.

However...

You say arrival is Saturday mid-day...

Theatre matinees start at 2 PM on Sat. so before 2 PM traffic is crazy in the theatre district. It clears up somewhat from ~ 2 - 4 PM, so if that is the window period of your travel ~ 1 hour. If your travel is Noon > 2PM or 4 PM and later: Add 30 min. to 1 hour.

Thanks Lofter1,
Sounds like a no-brainer to me, there's two of us so a cab it is! Hopefully we'll be getting to our hotel around 2 o'clock ish.
Much appreciated advice, thanks,
Mike;)
