i didnt believe my eyes when i saw astrix playing in nyavalon

since i thought there is no trance scene in nyc (and im pretty sure there is no real trance/psy scene like in germany)

i was impressed that astrix plays @ avalon

anyway.. astrix style is kinda tooo psy for me

i am interested in progressive trance and parties

i think noone here knows what i am talking about but maybe i am lucky and find someone even if i dont think i will?!?

I don't believe there's a 'scene' here, pity, but you can find acts on occasion. Just have keep your eyes open for posters of events, know which DJs to look for, and sign up to a lot of mailing lists.

Manhattan is mostly a poor showing; it's best to go to Brooklyn - Williamsburg, Greenpoint, etc. In Queens, be sure to hit P.S. 1 WarmUp (http://ps1.org/ps1_site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=74) series during the summer for some good DJs (http://ps1.org/ps1_site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=55&Itemid=99). It is well worth it.

In Manhattan that I've been to: Tonic (actually, the subtonic lounge) - http://tonicnyc.com/ - has some good acts. It has more European feel to it, very open to anyone and it is not expensive, but is too small! Get on their list.

Canal Room I like it has a good space, has had some great DJs, but is definitely not a open crowd - read link (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/38584541/). Often is too expensive, $25 or more. I fear that its trendiness will only grow, pull in only one kind of crowd, push away others.

Been to other places but didn't keep track of the names. I'll post or send you more info as I get it!

Bishop I love Avalon I'm always there. I was there NYEve and it was crazy. SO much fun, right now I think that is the only one of the few good place to get good trance music. Later bro.

yo jc

thanx alot for reply
the avalon looks cool but very expensive
thing is that trance is a very unpopular style in the us

we mainly listen to progressive trance this is around 138 bpm and kinda spheric but very well danceable

if u need any samples, let me know upon request

do u think it makes sense to do any reservations on the avalons list?!?

this is totally uncommon over here.. but in nyc it seems u can plan anythin in advance even the ride up on rockefellers :)
