Hi - out of interest and for our own city forum (http://www.downtownliverpool.org/) I wondered if anyone can help me in making pricing comparisons between Liverpool and New York apartment pricing.

For a new development I would have to shell out $650 sq. foot (i.e. here: http://www.cityresidential.co.uk/html/newhomes/brochure.asp?recordid=11) but it would be interesting to compare that with prices in the world's top city. Thanks in advance.

We start around $1,000/sf and it goes up from there.

Outside of Manhattan (da otta boros) you pay half the $1000 per sq/ft for a new development and maybe even less with multiple bedrooms. In Manhattan you can find nicely renovated places for $800 per sq ft too since market maybe getting softer...

I actually just put together a comp list of sales "April 05 - Present" for the Upper West Side. The cheapest avg price per sq ft for sales in any building was $832. The highest average price per square foot was $1,842. Maybe that helps.

Thanks for that guys. For what is often touted as the "most expensive city" in the world it now seems not so expensive. Either that or here in Liverpool prices are too high.

Using the "Big Mac" comparrison(http://www.economist.com/markets/bigmac/displayStory.cfm?story_id=2708584), I think we are a minimum 16% over priced and due a correction
