Lucky you!!

When my parents moved to CA after WWII the Laguna / San Clemente area is almost where they settled, but instead they went north -- near SF.

NoCal rules over SoCal IMO ;)

Except, of course, if you're on the ocean.

Haven't spent time in Laguna since the early 70's ... but have some good memories.

Looks like a slice of paradise.
I wonder how much those homes costs.

I wonder how much those homes costs.

I now the cost was about $7 Million back in 2001... Just imagine how much it goes for now.

I also got to talk briefly with Diane Keaton...

She owns the white house to the left of the first photo. The one that has the tall tree. Also the funny thing was that on my way to L.A., the plane was showing the movie 'The Family Stone.' So I got to see her in a movie aswell before I got to even talk to her. It gave her a good laugh. LOL. :D

I did not touch the water. LOL! It just looks like it was too cold for a swim. They are in Winter time aswell. I was wearing a light jacket or a sweater when I was out and about. In the middle of the day it was in the high 50's to early 60's. At night time late 30's to 40's.

The current prices in California make the NY housing bubble seem like small potatoes. Cali is through the roof! A million bucks can get you a shack in the desert if you are lucky ;)

Is this by chance available for rent?

Or were you lucky enough to be a guest of family / friends?

^ Not for rent. It is my Friend's place. He is a billionaire and he is just in his 40's (Married with children).

He is also building a place of about $30 Million... with a pool, tennis court and courtyards and gardens... just the house will be about 15,000 sft and will be on top of a hill in Laguna Beach/Orange County area. It ovelooks a Golf Course. It is a very private community that has two seperation. First you drive thru a guard gate for just rich people and then another gate for the super rich people. that is where he is building his place.

I try to persuade him to move to New York City and get a penthouse... he can afford a place in the Calatrava tower in downtown but he is a californian guy and just loves to drive his car and the weather, so he doesn't want to.

Anyway I am planning to go back in April for a week but I am not sure yet. :)

It looks like emptiness to me. Worse than boring, downright depressing. Do some people have such rich "inner lives" that they can be satisfied with the contemplation of the ocean?

Better than this (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8587) though, which looks ideal for encouraging suicide.

^ That is not his home. That is the beach house. He currently lives in another home... which I think is very ugly. Actually is in a middle class suburban neighborhood in Orange County and all of the houses look boring the same. He has live there for years even before he made so much money. Now that he has money he bought this beach house and is currently building his own palace. He did not built the beach house. Anyway I like it alot. Not a super big mansion (like what you find in the Hamptoms)... just the right size.
