I've been trying out a method of replicating photographic cross processing in Photoshop. Here are some results:

I'm not exactly sure what this achieves. Can you explain?

The term is from film processing - using the wrong chemical solution for the type of film used. An example is developing slides with the solution for print film, or vice versa.

The results can be achieved digitally in Photoshop. Higher contrast, color shift, loss of detail. Note the cabs and green street at Macy's.

I think it works best for simple and bold compositions. British photographer Nick Knight used the technique in fashion photography in the 80s.
