I still have another 5 months before I'm 25 and I am no longer considered a "threat" to society when I'm behind the wheel. When I was out at college, there was a garage that rented cars to people under 25 with no ridiculous surcharge...does anyone know of a place/s like that in NYC or northern NJ? I'd like to visit a friend in Charlottesville, VA, but Amtrak costs like $180 to get there. Thanks.

sps

Even if you're over 25 it costs ~ $65 / day (plus extras) to rent a car in NYC.

Unless you're looking for freedom to go where you want the train would be cheaper. Maybe you can rent a car when you get down there ...

You will pay $65 a day when nobodyelse wants to rent that car... And if others are trying to rent the same car you are tring to rent, like the holidays, fohget about it... It'll go up and up and up....:)

And there is no guarantee that the car you reserve will be there for you when you arrive at the NYC location to pick up the car -- or any car for that matter
