View Full Version : Meeting of forum members

Recently, there were episodes of forum members running into each other in the physical world and not knowing who they are; so I would like to explore the possibility of setting up a meeting of forum members. First, is there any enthusiasm about such a meeting? Second, what form such a meeting could take? I thought about launching Wired New York bike tour; riding a bike is something I do regularly anyway. Some other possibilities could be meeting for a photo-op, or for a lecture, or for one of those tours we get announcements in the City Guide section of the forum. What do you think?

If it's a bike tour you can go on ahead without me.

Sounds good. *A tour of the village would be cool. *Unfortunatly my bike was stolen 6 months ago :(

Reason numero uno why I didn't even bother getting a bike.
But I am still on board for some other form of meeting.

Whenever I bike in the city I take precautions, I will take with me a backpack for my seat and will carry-off my front-wheel, its a hassle.

Giovanni Sasso from SSP and Phxmania are getting together this Friday if anyone is interested:

It's not the Meeting of Forum Members originally posted in this thread, but there are lots of members here who are also members there so I thought I'd post it. I will try to drop in if I can.
Otherwise, maybe we can try again to meet for a tour or something when it gets a little warmer.

I'd like to go but the age is a killing factor.

I KNEW I recognised you Jason!!!!
Anyway, i would be up for rollerbolading, or a good walkthrough of some of the better areas in NYC or Brooklyn.
But another suggestion. Wouldanybody be up for an after-work or after-hour drink or two? Any good alehouses or the like to pop into to say hello?
Just a suggestion *cough*blindtiger*cough*

I never got it, or it was inadvertantly deleted with others. I've had PMs get "stuck" in the outbox.
Resend it.

I talked to Cmandala only on the phone I supposed to see him closed to the Bell center in Montreal on Lagauchetière street so his hotel room was on René Lévesque street . That guy told me I sound funny on the phone and he told me I don't speak English like Québécois people. When I've in Brooklyn somebody told me I sound as a German when I speak. I would be glad to meet people.

Nice revival... I really think it would be cool to have a meet from here, or one from SSP merged with one from here. Arranging these things is not so easy though, as is evident with my feeble attempt to set up a NYC meet on SSP.

Nope, especially not Monday through Thursday, when I live in upper Manhattan...

Maybe if you stop obsessing about a certain TV show, you wouldn't make stupid posts like the one above.

I think Gulcrapek meant that he's living in a dorm during the week.

Oh, well my apologies zippy for not knowing that.
Its not a question of whether you know it or not. It was a rude comment, because divorce is a sensitive subject. First off, there are no divorce custodies where a child is with one parent mon-thurs and the other fri-sunday every week. If you are unaware of Gul's situation you can ask him why his situation is what it is, don't assume his situation, and he will, that is if he wants to respond to it.

If I come in New York by bus from Montreal, what's the best place to meet of other? At least if somebody is interested to see me, that would be nice.

I didnt assume. It was the only explanation I could come up with. I dont see what Law & Order has to do with the question.
Well, "Law and Order" deals with mysterious stories that people try to solve through deduction.
Gul presented a scenario that you, the sly proscutor, tried to to have us, the jury, believe was the result of "divorce". Zippy objected. Stern sustained his objection on the grounds that (1) there was insufficient evidence to support that claim - circumstantial at best and (2) you were leading the witness. The fact that Gul is attending school Mon thru Thurs can be found in depositions scattered through out Wired New York. Ignorance is no defense.
Another word out of you counselor and I'll have locked up and fined for contempt. Does the court make itself clear?
NEXT CASE!

The "Law and Order" reference was to point out that your question was of the probing type usually employed by law enforcement - to catch suspects off guard and point out inconsistencies.
Did you have as good a reason to ask such a personal question on a public forum?
This is at least the third time you have been asked to refrain from interrogations.

Hi-
I'm looking for the thread "Sleeping with Forum Members". Anyone seen it?

That works for me. Nothing too too early as I have a 5 hour commute in to contend with.
And outbound for that matter..

I will try to make it, although I'd prefer Friday since I'd already be in the city. Then again, kznyc's traveling 5 hours, so I guess I could handle taking the bus in. I could definitely fit in several hours of photography, if it's a nice day.
