Here's a question for the board, though... let's say what seems to be the mood here (MSG gets the boot from its current locale) happens.
...where do we put the next incarnation?
Bit offtopic, but anything hard on 3WTC since that report it was go last month? I walked by Monday and saw rebar and brackets expectantly open to the skies... but, it seems to still be at six stories.
A month later, any word either way on that report from the Post?
Agreed. The thing is massive from my workplace (the Intrepid). It dwarfs everything nearby. I can't wait to see it finished and lit up.
Damn, the Lincoln Building failed the cut a couple of postwar boxes made? Shame.
That is the most absurd thing I have heard yet about rebuilding the WTC site. Makes one yearn for the days when steel arrived from Pittsburgh still warm to the touch for installation on the ESB.
Eh. Note the screenname, post count and joining and be done with it.
How ARE things coming, though, Irish?
Speaking of, is that still happening?
It's the World Financial Center. Just like they're the Triborough Bridge and the Queensboro Bridge.
Where is this in relation to the 9/11 Memorial on SI? I took a friend out there last week and we both enjoyed the silence and dignity... two things I feel the Wheel will ruin for it if it's too close...
According to NY1, the walkway between here and Cortlandt Street will not open until 1 and 4 WTC are up and running... they said 2015.
20 blocks? I can see it from work (the Intrepid)!
I'll believe it when I see it. 2 and 3 aren't going up until demand does, and that doesn't seem to be any time soon.
Isn't it window mullions/framing? That's what I've been assuming all this time. Or did I miss the studies of the planned design.
...yes, do tell, Mike, do tell.
I believe Rockefeller Plaza is closed to pedestrian traffic one day a year to maintain its privacy.
I watched NY1 yesterday; Roger Clark had an interview with a guy from Silverstein Properties who outright said that 3 WTC would go ahead, with a target completion date of 2016. Not the most unbiased...
LL, I see you calling lots of buildings POS, or hoping they won't be POS... I'm not saying they aren't, but I am curious... what are some buildings or styles in New York you DO approve of?
Yes. I remember one time her male counterpart ranted that he knew people who ran up to him screaming they "loved" abortion. I burst out laughing, which he did not appreciate.
Is there ever even going to BE a T5?
As someone who was walking by Faisal Shazad's car bomb when it should have gone off, I fully see where you're coming from on that.
...and all of this would have done jack on 9/11.... how.
So, has it been determined how far 2 and 3 are going yet? Because for buildings that aren't supposed to be built... they sure are being built.
And don't forget many of these towers are international icons decades after being eclipsed in height.
