I remember the same effect on the Shard in London. They explained it somehow but I can't remember the specifics.

Shame, Madison Square is so classy...
This god awful pile of rubbish is monumentally bad.
The Folk Art facade really goes well with the Tour Verre. Just reinstall the facade. It shouldn't be difficult.
I am really not worried about the concrete. At what distance does the dirt on concrete stop being discernible anyway? On the skyline this is just going to look like a white/ light grey tower. Same...
I might surprise some people but rectilinear buildings are generally much easier and better to inhabit than curvy wavy ones.
I really don't see New York suddenly building that way. It simply wouldn't be acceptable.
The facade is great but I don't think the interior is anything to write home about. Preserve the facade and I am happy. Even if not, Torre Verre is worth it.
I quite like this but I think the location is all wrong.
I know this will make LL weep but this building is much more thoroughly designed and refined that the 57th street tower. I much prefer this.
What if you want the tv in a different place? I suppose if you can afford 27 mill you won't skimp on ripping a pole down.
WNY will order handcream wholesale!
There will need to be some kind of cladding on this. You need an insulating layer between the outside and the structure, surely?
Some kind of quad-spire, with one in each corner could make this terminate into the sky with a lot more style.
No, it is to fit a certain amount of office space under the height dictated by the masterplan.
Taking the piss. So many people get that one wrong.
Just stick a big counter weight up top. They did something like this at Trump World Tower as well. Or that might be the type which is a large tank of water...

Hi, amigo. All is well. How are you?
It has changed completely since I was first in NY in 05 when I lived a block away for the briefest time.
That glass looks good. If it looks good on here it must look great in person.
I have always loved this one. Very under-appreciated.
I am liking this trend.
Probably because it isn't.
I'm really happy with how this one turned out.
