Babylon is actually fairly nice. By the water. Nice downtown area. Historic houses.

Congrats! You won't be sorry about the move to Columbia or NYC. As far as what to do, there's so much. Search this board like crazy and you'll see more than you could hope for.
Good luck and...
Why is Hempstead Tpke going to change very soon?
And from LI for CT.
Wang and Co. are also trying to develop another "town" on LI, and it looks pretty damn nice...

Wow, just remembered why forums annoy me sometimes.
I would also check out some places in Nassau, since it would be close to NYC and Woodbury. Check out Garden City, Oyster Bay, Rockville Center, to name a few. Close to the LIRR, about 10-15 min at...
I don't know why you are so against the downtown-JFK link. It makes total sense. There should be direct links from JFK and LGA from BOTH DT and MT. As an added benefit, hundreds of thousands of LI...
Sounds tremendous. You should share these plans with some gov't officials, no?
This, along with the 3rd rail expansion of the main line and the proposed link to JFK and Downtown would be a real boon for both the city and LI. This might make LI somewhat more attractive for...
This is the only real location for the thing. Sure, you could move it out to Queens or Staten Island and knock the current one down, but would the draw be the same? I'm not sure. It's only a small...

I'm not all that familiar, but Short Hills/Millburn, Maplewood, Chatham, Montclair seem to always come up in the nice NJ towns discussions. Closer to NYC than to Princeton, but a nice compromise.
Chase is a disgrace and a train wreck. People are getting RIFed (Reduction In Force) and moved all over the place. Wilmington, DE is booming. Sad. And the amazing part is that Chase BOUGHT Bank...
Well, Citi has a pretty large prescence in NJ as well, just not JC. But, it is great to see them commit to NYC and build up LIC. Too bad more NYC companies don't/haven't followed suit.
As far as Long Island, anywhere in Nassau county will be less than 1 hr to midtown. Getting into Suffolk, there's Huntington and not much else.
The North Shore of LI is more moneyed for the most...
Anything new with this?
If you were to move to Long Island, where would it be and why?
Please, no, I would never move to Long Island comments, please. I know most people on this board hate the place.
Thanks very much.
What's the arguement for always trying to keep people in areas they can't afford again? It seems to slip my mind.
The deal with Woodbury is that if you were in the market for a $500 sweater, you could get it for $300 or so. A deal, relatively speaking.
I have actually been exploring Long Island recently and would advise you to take a ride up Northern Blvd (Route 25A).
This road starts in Long Island City Queens and goes about 100 miles east.

Ah yes, East Williamsburg...not Bushwick...
That's going to be a great trip. Enjoy.
Not sure about Jersey Gardens (I think it's like a mall-type development with mid-range stores), but Woodbury is really nice...mountain setting, like a little village. Many hi-end retailers...Gucci,...
