Brookfield owns the complex so naming after themselves is hardly whoring. They used the same name for an office complex they own in Toronto.
A gas station is a lot less likely to cause the kind of damage seen here if it explodes. A car can also explode as can a lawnmower. But they certainly won't do the same kind of damage a large factory...

Let me rephrase. It will sink or swim based on the quality of the exterior finish. Exposed concrete can look great or terrible.
I like the design. Nothing wrong with simple. But the project will sink or swim depending on the quality of the cladding. Much too early to comment on that.

The foundation/basement levels will impact the interior of the tower but they would have plenty of wiggle room on the exteriors.
New York was founded on making money and increasing density. This has been true through its entire history. Why should it be any different today?

Central Park is public land. Penn Station wasn't so a very big distinction. And back in the early 60's saving Penn Station for the public good was not on the radar for private corporations. Different...
But cleaning a train station meant it was still a train station. Wasn't the point to add other uses such as office and the Gardens? And wasn't it easier and cheaper for them to start fresh rather...

Crazy considering the article posted above indicating it needs a facelift. Perhaps they should open it first.
The US cannot do that so long as the mantra of taxes are too high/bad etc. continues. You do get what you pay for.
