    Default WTC (New) 3D Model

Seeing as how we're a week away from the new designs, I figured now was a good time to make everything released thus far. Many of you may remember my previous two incarnations of the NWTC. This version will go far beyond its predicessors in detail. Everything will be sculpted in 3D, no cheap tricks like bumb maps. It will have a similar level of detail to, and builds upon my experiences making, my Yamasaki Trade Center Model (Link). I Strongly recommend view that one as well, though if you don't wish to relive the past, that's your choice.

First up is 1WTC. I rendered shots from almost the beginning of the design, so you'll see it evolve throughout the time I put into it earlier tonight. From basic shapes to facade details it's shown.

Initial work. At this stage I was still very much experimenting with how exactly I can build Tower 1. I'm still not sure how the base will turn it out, so I'll leave it mostly as-is, though I think I change half the units to a glass material as that's how it seems to be planned.

At this point I figured out how to build up the floors. They're basically done, though I'll go back in later and remove some levels to create the mechanital floors. This is amoung the biggest real changest between this version an all my previous attempts. I can now render interior shots.

Old and new 1WTC are compared in the second render.

I am paying extremely close attention to the facade. There are somethings I couldn't do that I wanted to because of polygon issues, so despite a shortcut I took, I'm happy with the facade. It will look even better in the final renders.

^FT has already turned out really well. I was afraid the angled parts of the building were going to be a huge pain in the ass, but I figured out a simple was to do it this morning.

    More facade details.

Interior shots. Until I get a stacking diagram, I'm only going to do basic depictions of the core.

I'm not sure how to depict the base, so I'm sticking with this until I decide.

For those impressed by the previous renders, those were made using the basic realism settings. Here's with everything turned on.

The North Tower looks so much more imposing compared to the FT.

If you were to do one from the intersection of Houston St. & Broadway that would do it ...

    (thanks)
