The shape is nice, but I think that the facade will turn out like crap.

Speaking of nice shapes, always a joy to observe your avatar.

Yes, suspect you are right about that: the curtain wall at the base looks like 'hollow' metal panels - needed to be solid stone. But, the glass on the street level looks quality stuff.

To give my friends over at TEN a plug, I will just assume 'the Architectos' original specs were all high-grade materials: only to be watered down by the builder/developer/owner.

Stepping up over Eleventh Avenue -- one more floor to go along here ...

Soon it will look just like the render:

That last photo shows how horrid and badly thought out this part of the design is at street level...
now add the smell of fresh horse $hit to compound the ugliness

you mean the ones nobody will be able to see from the narrow street...

    Well, how about this:

It's gonna hide the brown cinder block-ish tower on 54th?

Between this thing and the retarded building on 45th St., these guys should be called TEN Hackos Retardos.

Yeah, the building at One York turned out fairly well, but "Cassa" and this look like a whole lot of precast-plastic garbage. I think they were going for the "architecture as disposable cup" motif...

I agree. I like One York though it's hardly a masterpiece. This and Cassa look retarded though. Sadly, this would have looked quite nice if it used glass instead of these sh.itty panels.

All the panels we've seen so far are covering the commercial portions of the building. Seems there will be more variation on the upper floors where they enclose residential areas. I do wish that the panels were lighter / whiter as seen in the render (although what's seen in the render might simply be an attempt to show the reflective nature of the panels rather than a lighter color).

btw: You don't want all glass over a very busy avenue and across from a public park. As seen above, there will be almost all glass on the taller west-facing facade overlooking the garden and the bulk of the building.

Ah ... west facing glass ... like living in a solar panel.
