Default California: City Of Avalon, Catalina Island

So this past weekend was my birthday and so I decided to go to California to celebrate it. When I go there I usually stay in Laguna Beach, at a friends place there. But this time I decided to take a trip to the City of Avalon in Catalina Island. What a place. Not what I expected at all. Like you can see, it is like California was probably 100 years ago. Beautiful little city and very environmental conscious. No SUVs or fancy new cars in sight. There must be a law frobidden them from the island. All you see are people walking or driving those golf cars. I love this place.

Thanks for the beautiful pics, krull!

It's surprisingly reminiscent of Capri, in more ways than one.

Fantastic .. but more like 50-60 years ago -- when the countryside was wide & open and the towns were small & cozy.

Catalina has always been great ...

LA, on the other hand, was never any good -- not even 100 years ago:

Fantastic photos - And I love the golf buggies as cars - that is amazing.

As for LA 100 years ago - I am sure that as a retiree or easy going person you cant compare LA with this little town buit for the young and energetic, I still believe that LA is one of the greatest cities in the world.

Living in Miami is like living in a movie.

But living in LA is like living in a movie and a TV show.
