    Supposedly, that design is muerto.

A blasted shame. It looks lovely. Sleek & sophisticated without being overdone.

From what I've seen from the diagrams filed with the DOB, the new tower will suck.

    Another squat glass box methinks?

    Wankers.

I mean, it's still filed for 715 feet, so I'm not sure that can be considered squat... In any event, it has a really curious schedule A, so something interesting will be happening with the shape of the building I'm not seeing a zoning diagram filed for the building, though.

The Schedule A shows a rectangle with an indentation at each corner. If it's a box with a concave dent in each corner, it will suck. If it's a 700 foot version of what was planned at 5 Franklin Place, it will be amazing.

I had a lot of hope for this tower; it's right in my neighborhood. I hope it's not as bad as you guys are thinking.

    I hope not too.

As long as we don't end up with another 8th Ave box....

I should think 6th ave is notably more famous for its boxes, no? That just happens to be the most recent one in the city.

No work, but some permits have recently been filed. Word is the design is very different.

I'm sure it's something they can throw up very easily. Pun intended.

The original design was beautiful. I've heard that the new one is not as good.

We're ending up with another box, per NY YIMBY's post today: http://newyorkyimby.com/2013/12/250-...-designed.html.

I am not sure if this is accurate, as the post mentions "a Whole Foods set to occupy the retail base." The Whole Foods has been there for more than a year. Maybe NY YIMBY is referencing another site?
