I've been busy planning a trip to Turkey...my partner and I can't wait to see Istanbul for ourselves. I just booked a nice apartment right near Taksim Square off Istiklal Caddesi and it's very exciting!

Something I've realized while planning this trip: Turkey is no longer one of those bargain destinations. People have always said it's cheaper than Greece but I'm seeing prices that indicate the opposite. Turkey is experiencing a trendy popularity right now and the locals seem to be gassing up the prices accordingly.

I'm here in Istanbul, in an apartment just off Istikal Caddisi and this city is AMAZING. Don't know why it took me so long to check it out. People say Madrid has a vibrant nightlife...and it does...but Istanbul makes Madrid look bored and sleepy in comparison.
WOW. Now I see what all the fuss is about!!

After weeks of traveling through the Eastern Mediterranean I'm back in New York and feeling great. We met so many lovely people from all over the world and relaxed on so many beaches...and ate so much delicious food

Turkey's economy is booming, and Turkey is becoming important diplomatically. It seems that the acronym BRIC needs to incorporate at "T" -- BRICT.

Absolutely, LL. It was immediately apparent in Istanbul and other Turkish cities as we traveled around. Construction everywhere, lots of newly opened businesses...very exciting time for Turkey and a good time to travel there as well.
