Those back windows look prison worthy.

I think this one is a great example that would be so much better if it was half as wide but twice as tall. Modern towers just look better tall instead of wide.

I agree, and I think it plays on the detailing (or lack thereof). Take a nice 4-12 story building. You can comfortably see all of that from the ground. When it's well ornamented, it gives great pleasure and variety to the viewing experience. Taller buildings, on the other hand, create vast expanses of underused or unused space where detail would be lost anyway. We also forgive older buildings that don't necessarily deal with this well. Think about something like 40 Wall or 60 Pine. These are liked and likable buildings, but their midriffs are not the stuff great buildings are made of.

Noto nly did they fix up the fit and finish on this better than I expected, but this came out functionally plain. I'm impressed considering my low expectations.

Agreed, Thank Goddess that they went with all white, rather than that horrid, multicolor scheme shown in the renderings.
Now if they could just figure out a way to replace all the retail they keep displacing for these unwanted (at least in this area where we are already saturated), hotels.
