(BTW, that brown building with steeples (church?) in the forefront gives a really neat depth-perception)

The brown building was a church, at 450 Clinton St, in Carroll Gardens. It was built in 1856 as the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In 1928 the Norwegian church in Cobble Hill moved to 450 Clinton, and it became the Norwegian Seamen's Church. It is now a condominium.

There was a sizable Norwegian presence in Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, (later) Bay Ridge at the time.

The site isn't landmarked, but a block way at 440 Clinton St (flag at right) is the landmarked Rankin House, a rare Greek Revival stand-alone mansion, built in 1840. It was The Norwegian Sailors' Home in the early 20th century.
