Mr. Glass,
Your company did a great job. I nearly hurled every time I saw the old 330. Now, however, it looks great. In my opinion, this is the best reskin I've seen.
Sorry...TOH curtainwall panels will be starting to go up this week if Mother Nature will co-operate...
The west side tower panels are up to the 39th floor covering the old brick (they still have the temp protective covering) and will have a metallic silver look similar to the lower panels on the same site
You really did not want to see that old, dingy, dirty aluminum and brick anyway did you?

This came out great.
I hope that your next project is Sapir's buildings on Madison.
Wow. This reclad is great. What an improvement over the original facade.
We need some of this down in the financial district.
But not on pre-war masonry buildings.
Former GS HQ? It's a brutal pile, worthy of an update. But it's such a massive block that they'd need to come up with some sort of interesting glazing pattern to keep it from turning out as an even more oppressive hulk.
How 85 Broad Street looks now:

I think 85 Broad would be improved just by using a curtain wall that focused more strongly on verticality. This would make the building look taller and thinner than it actually is.
They should reclad it in something metallic ...

The glass is nice but I wish the reclad could have given the building some character.

Well, I wish there could have been some further design considerations as well but as you know it comes down to a budget conscious owner and NYC building regulations, etc. With the reclads the owners are trying to get the biggest bang for the buck for their return on investment. There were many issues with the lotlines and air rights which play heavily into the outward design. But if you look closely the "entasis" at the top of the building is still there.....
Seņor Glass,
Are there any planned projects that will get new facades? The two 1960s towers in the 30s on Madison could use new facades.
