    Default 12 East 42nd Street

Does anyone know what's going on with the POS? It has a 50's/60's facade, but perhaps a nice, old building exists beneath that.

"Nat Sherman, a leading manufacturer and purveyor of luxury tobacco products, will be relocating its flagship retail showroom to 12 East 42nd Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenues. The family owned luxury cigar and tobacco retailer, which has been located at 500 Fifth Avenue on the corner of 42nd Street for 15 years, has taken a 6,000-square-foot store comprised of three levels"

Thanks for the scoop, JP. I hope that Sherman spruces up the hideous facade.

    Any updates on 12 E 42nd Street?

Today's NYTimes has an article about Nat Sherman's move. It seems the building has been beautifully restored.

    Photos anyone ?

This little building has turned out extraordinarily. It has a beautiful facade with great details and a copper mansard roof.

Can anyone with a camera post some photos of this masterpiece? Nat Sherman is the antithesis of Macklowe. As cheap and uninspired as Macklowe is, Nat Sherman is the extreme opposite. This little building that he created spares no expense and is ornate and magnificent.

^ Undoubtedly an improvement, but the proportions and detailing seem a little odd --as though the architect didn't really know the style.

Or maybe Nat designed it himself?

It's charming -- but somewhat akin to Disneyland Main Street with better materails (copper instead of fibreglass).

LOL. Oh my God... let's face it, it's pretty awful. It looks like a Hardees or something like that.
