Which begs the question: where is the additional bulk coming from?

^ That link only brings you to their homepage.

Anyway, I'm assuming you're showing that they did acquire additional air rights, right? Which buildings did they get those from?

    I see. Thanks.

I still have yet to learn to navigate that site.

Can anyone explain the angle of these buildings around this project. Was there some old street here?

Strange. I've been looking but haven't been able to find an old street or elevated railroad. They aren't perpendicular to Broadway either.

You can see that the excavation is still ongoing and that the pit is quite deep (one of the deepest in recent memory).

The site is on the right-most, center of this photo:

Just guessing but maybe it was an odd shaped farm in the old days.

The lots are more or less perpendicular to the old Bloomingdale Road, which was the only road through the area, and was later straightened to form Broadway. These are very, very old boundaries.

The angles even continue to the west side of Sixth. You can see it on the slant of the building that protrudes into this development.
These taken yesterday. Finally the hammering has stopped.

    Starting to rise...

Next door they are continuing demolition for 855 Sixth (35 story Kondylis), and one more block north they've started interior demolition for 885 Sixth (45+ story Kondylis).

They only demolished the top two stories of the previous office building and all the equipment just sits on that rubble.

Building in the center is coming down for 885 Sixth.

Now that Sixth Ave's western wall of banality is nearly complete, expect proposals for the east side in the coming years.

Here they come. Unfortunate how the Remy, the one decent high-rise Kondylis has designed for this stretch, has stalled.

I'll enjoy my ever-worsening view in the mean time.

Ugly slowly takes over. On the western side of my building rise 2 new McSam's and there are at least 4 more within a 1 block radius.

Hard to believe this is the look of luxury in 2007.

All moved in... I like the top's illumination at night though.
See the little McSam peeking it's head out? I guess you can only build so tall with non-union labor.

    So hard to remain optimistic.
Even when looking at BofA I'm blinded by Verizon's disgusting re-clad.

Great photo update Derek and I like the somewhat cynical tone, mirrors my sentiments exactly also.

Wouldn't it be a total "kick in the nuts," as londonlawyer would say, if a McSam ended up being the replacement instead? Ugh.
