Until those other holes on the ground are developed, this will be the lone standout along that stretch of 6th.

Still can't get over that big gap in the street. At least it was better than that giant black VCR player that was on the spot before.

The facade going up on the base here may not be the greatest ever designed, but it's interesting -- and what a relief to see something on this Avenue that differs from all those Kondylis cookie cutter bases that line both sides of Sixth a couple of blocks to the south.

Agreed, still can't get over how cheap Chelsea Stratus looks.

That block still looks rather empty. Can't wait to see the other lots built.

What's rising seems somewhat different from this rendering. For instance, isn't there an inset or notch on the northeast facade on the rendering that's missing from what's being built?

^I noticed that as well and acknowledged it several posts back. We'll see if the tower slab ends up being different.

The notch is on the south face of the building is clearly shown in the first photograph by kulltime. The rendering is looking northwest roughly viewing the south and east face of the building, note, you can see the old version of the Verizon building in the background; it is north of this building.
What is missing is the notch on the east face( on 6th Avenue).

What's important is if they retained the two plates that appears to be slicing the tower from the side into two.

If they got rid of that feature then this becomes another boring box.

So far I'm not seeing anything that makes me think it survived the changes.

Well the 'fins' will not be as pronounced or as distinguishable as in the rendering. The rendering appears to show them to be pretty deep from say face of adjacent windows. Not sure yet what will happen at the top of the building, something similar no doubt. But the building I'm sure will look great when completed! They are really moving at fast speed on this one.

    Hotel Eventi, New York, NY

Located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, this luxury full-service hotel will occupy an entire city block between West 29th and 30th Streets. It will be a glass-exterior mixed-use tower, facing Sixth Avenue.

The building will include a block-through open outdoor plaza with water features and public seating. J.D. Carlisle Development plans to construct a 20-foot wide outdoor multi-media screen within the plaza for both public and private entertainment events.

The design will feature 287 guest rooms and some suites with outdoor terraces overlooking the plaza.

This exciting new hotel will also include a multi-level bar and restaurant of approximately 15,000 square feet, plus outdoor seating in the plaza.

Some distinguishing factors include 8,000 square feet of high-quality meeting space, a 1,400 square foot gym and separate spa with three treatment rooms. 270 luxury apartments will top off the tower.

Column McCartan will be designing the interiors, and the restaurants will be operated by China Grill Management.
