    Default Rush Hour On I95

Im Driving from baltimore to massachusetts on Friday april 20th. It brings me up i95 all the way thru new york. I was planning to leave at 2am which would put me in the brox at about 4-5am. Would that be enough to miss the start of rush hour? Or is there a better way to go?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks
    Josh

No problems that early unless there is a wreck or road construction. Tune into WCBS-AM 880 as you approach NYC. They give traffic reports every ten minutes.

How about Amtrak? No need to worry about traffic.

I don't know much about driving in Jersey, but you're better off at any time of day taking rt 15 (Hutchison/Merrit parkway) through Connecticut. Unless you're going to Western Mass, in which case you should take rt 84.

Merrit is great, and a very nice road to run on.

Do not use 95 outside of NJ....

One of the quicker ways is by taking the pallisades parkway up past the GWB until you get to the Tappan Zee bridge, then take that over to the HHP/Merrit. After that you are on your own (bro lives in CT, so I stop halfway through), but I think you can take the merrit to the Mass Pike.

North NJ to Boston takes about 3:20 at high speed and clear roads, so I do not know if you can make it from MD to MA in 3 hours!

But the roads are usually clear until about 6am.

Well if you put us together, we have a clue. If you're going to any part of Mass east of Springfield, take the Merritt (which turns into the Wilbur Cross) to rt 91 north. take that to Hartford and switch to 84 East (if you're going to Boston) then 90. Or stay on 91 if you're going to Springfield/Northampton. Southern Connecticut has terrible traffic, so plan to be past Bridgeport by 6am.

Im Going to six flags in Springfield. Its going to be really early in the morning i was just trying to figure out what time i have to leave to get to Springfield before 10am.

and i figured Baltimore to new york would take 3 hours. since thats the only traffic im worried about.
