As much as I hate this concrete stick, Extell's ridiculous stick on a box will be even worse.

Love this photo - 432 Park is really beginning to gain verticality. Its appearance is improving as well, since the splotchiness of the concrete is no longer obvious; eyes are immediately drawn to the height.

And it's not even half-way up!

It looks better than 225 W 57th, not that that's saying much.

    Default Residents for Rand-ians ...

Really obnoxious narration, but some good visuals:

Inside Macklowe’s 432 Park Avenue: VIDEO

The New York skyline, Ayn Rand famously stated, is “the will of man made visible.” Harry Macklowe’s 432 Park Avenue – slated to be the tallest in the Western hemisphere, when complete, in 2015 – is excellent supporting evidence for Rand’s claim.

The forthcoming condominium tower, profiled in Vanity Fair’s “Eminent Domains” series, touts amenities such as a private restaurant for residents. As for the views from the 1,398-foot-tall skyscraper — the narrator declares that “from the upper floors the Empire State Building will appear as just another tower.” ...

I like the overall form of this building; the rigid geometry, the standard repetition of the windows in size and alignment - modernist simplicity, minimalism and elegance.

The exterior color and texture of the concrete facade s a disappoint however: perhaps there will be some sort of polishing work on the surface yet to come - I hope.

The interiors are fantastic: high ceilings (but not too high), well proportioned room sizes and apartment floor plans, minimal amounts of superfluous wood moulding work and built-in cabinetry, and great big windows for interior light and exterior views.

This is one of the best works of architecture currently under construction in NYC right now: IMHO.

I love the spectacular height. If only I could afford one of the top floor units

Looks like a completely separate building of steel and metal deck is going up on the actual Park Ave side on 56th St. I guess it is part of the "complex" that gives this brute a Park Ave address?
