I really, really want to like this one, but the design is just so bleh. It's not that it's bad, it's just unmemorable. I mean, its scale and proportions are impressive, but beyond that...
Still, I'm not complaining too much. For a crime like the demolition of the Drake Hotel, we should get a replacement that steals the show if not from the incredible design quality, then at least from sheer scale. A street as important as 57th has long lacked a key defining element, and the Park Avenue intersection does make for a perfect centerpiece location. Despite its banality, it should play off nicely with One57 down the street.
I like it, for its height and slenderness, that's all though. Pity that this is going up and Verre isn't. Oh well.

DOB shows no activity on Torre Verre / 53 w 53rd since the New Building plan was Disapproved back in 2009.

That doesn't mean the project is dead.
The developer filed plans, which conform to the new requirements, with the Dept of City Planning in July, 2011.
I've no doubt it's not dead, and will be constructed at some point (hopefully not too far in the future). But to my mind, to say it's "going up" implies current activity.
I meant that it's not dead. We don't know that 432 Park is going up right now.
Judging by the webcam, demolition of the last corner is in full swing. This will be under construction in no time.
edit: I love the fact that 432 Park Ave will have a taller roof height than 1WTC.

Forms have now been filed for the commencement of construction on the retail portion of 432 Park Avenue. While the public still only has vague renderings of the project to go by, it appears that the retail base will be adjacent rather than underneath the residential portion of the project. While the tower portion is rumored to be in excess of 1,400 feet in height, the retail component will be only 6 floors, comprising an area of 60,000 square feet.
