I see the project has 79 spaces for bike parking, part of the new city requirement that there must be a bike parking space for every 2 units.
I'm sure they will be in high demand here with all those billionaires cycling to work.
Weird coincidence that this project is similar to what an old forum member came (Rich) up with for a site not too far away 10 years ago.
I don't remember seeing that super tall support pole in the other renderings..

Does anyone know if the squares on the facade will be metal or concrete/stone? If metal, will it have a white finish or a silvery finish?
Each floor is less that half the length and width of 1WTC (and a quarter of the area), but the building is just as tall. This is really going to be something wild to watch.
I'd hate to be on the top floor on a windy day.
I've read that they should be brushed-nickel, but I could be wrong. Definitely not concrete/stone, though.
How tall is the poll? Is it considered part of the building for height purposes?
The pole (not poll) is not something being built. Someone unrelated to the developer just drew it. The filings for this construction all show 1398 as the top of the windscreen that will block the mechanical bulkhead.
As for inertial dampening, the list of things being done to address it is posted on the same BISWEB filing, and is really interesting. The cutouts in the building will help too. It will probably ALWAYS be windy on the balconies of the penthouse apartment at 1300+ ft.
Oh, I see. I just now noticed how close the Citicorp building is in that rendering which would make the "pole version" about a block or two east of 50. Oops.
I find this exciting and can't wait to see it rise. I'd think this development makes it more likely we will see some higher projects or at least proposals in the next 10 years. It makes me hope that the WTC is NOT counted as higher than 1,368' or so, as I do not want that building to set some psychological height limit as the ESB tends to do with the zoning board.
