A while back there was talk that the 417 Canal lot was going to be used as a Sculpture Display Garden during the interim time until developed.

I recently noticed that they've done some surveying at the lot and little orange strings outlining a rectangle or two out in the middle have sprouted up.

We'll have to wait and see where that leads.

In the pic below One York is to the right and the Moondance Hotel site is to the left ...

Looks like they took a cue from the Standard. Only no highline here.

    Neighbors here aren't amused.

This one (seemingly now called the 27 Grand Street Hotel) continues to grow (and is getting some glass) ...

The exposed concrete is being poured with frames that have a "wood grain' texture.

    The windows look lousy.

The wall surrounding this will be 20' high at the sidewalk.

Locals are successfully compelling the hotel to keep outdoor party spaces in check and close them at reasonable hours (the hotel needs to get a variance to operate, so it gives folks lots of leeway to negotiate various issues).

Anyone who thinks it's BS to force an entity like this hotel to comply with conditions should try living next door to one of these.

Folks in the vicinity of the new Cooper Square Hotel are taking no guff:

    Rumored by whom?

First post from "bracky" -- and no links or back-up for the trash talk.

Is this guy trying to foil the hotel competition?

Interior Designers will typically develop three color and casegood schemes, from which (on a hotel of this size) one will be selected. All rooms will be developed in this scheme and suites will get an expanded casegoods scheme. Often, the presidential suite is given unique finishes and furnishings. Typically, one standard room is mocked up along with a three module length of hallway.

Bracky, honey, please do some homework. We don't post rumors here. If you have something to post and part of it is "there was a rumor", "I heard a rumor", or "last night I had a dream", DON'T POST IT.

We try to distinguish this site from others by not tossing about useless, misinformation.

Thanks, Lovey. Welcome to the forum.

With all of the stunning groundscrapers rising in NY, these a-holes should be ashamed at this lame structure.

I look at it and think, "This is the kind of building that is being demolished all over NYC."

Hopefully, this will be gone in 20 years.
