No real foundation work at all here -- just pilings sunk in to start the perimeter and then it stalled.

I hope that the brown rental tower next door is redeveloped .

It just got redone. You might have to wait a bit. Renters remain more interested in the interiors than the exteriors.

    Thanks, Roldan.

I used to live near there and always hated that brown thing.

Resurrected 50 West Street Unveils New Renders, Sales Launch

    by Hana R. Alberts

    [Teaser site design by DBOX.]

After 30 years of waiting, Time Equities is getting ready to debut its Helmut Jahn-designed tower at 50 West Street. Just one of the oodles of new new residential buildings springing up in the Financial District, 50 West secured $400 million in financing earlier this year for the 63-story condo building with retail, a restaurant, one floor of office space, and the usual luxury amenities. A public plaza with a pedestrian walkway will connect West and Washington streets. So what's next? A teaser site, which just launched today, that includes some new panoramic renderings (screencapped above and below). Thomas Juul Hansen has also been tapped for the interiors. Also, sales will launch in the spring of 2014, with construction projected to be complete in 2016.

"Progress" at the site, January 29, 2014.

This contractor has been routinely disposing concrete slurry waste into the sanitary sewers on J.P. Ward Street.

This thread has been a lot of fun in the last few years; and plenty of project information that goes very deep, literally -

Good to see ASG posting here once again: now where is CAT - the guy who actually 'broke ground' on this project. http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showth...l=1#post272216

As to the dumping of the concrete slurry: maybe that can be reported to the DEP or a 311 call to file a complaint with the NYC building department.

Great thread so far; and we haven't even gone vertical yet....

That'll be real nice for the owners of this and other nearby properties during the next big deluge.

Walked by the site this afternoon. Nothing much has changed - still working on the foundation.

But next door, it looks like 90 Washington is getting a reclad. The AC openings have been plugged, and metal runners installed.

However it turns out, little chance it would be worse.

It would be nice to see the parking garages to the south and on Washington St come down.

Good news about 90 Wash. 50 West Street seems to be taking forever to get out the ground.
