Owner is Kit Lon Wong, Music Palace Corp. The only permits filed were for marquee repair and a sidewalk shed.

    Cool thank you

Yes, that's about all of the information i've been able to come up with. But where is Mr. long or the company? How can I get ahold of someone who i can discuss the property with? I've been looking into this thing now for a couple of days and it's looking bleak. Great forum by the way.

I would assume it's going to be developed into a residential building. It's a prime location for condos. Condo units just to the north on the Bowery sell for millions.

I think the site was formerly the last movie theatre in Chinatown. It's since deteriorated into an eyesore. I'm surprised the owner has waited so long to redevelop with all the surrounding gentrification.

If Margaret Chin gets her way, that's what the Bowery below Delancey and Canal east of Lafayette will be filled with. But probably with more utilitarian facades.

    Surprisingly nice, simple building.

Yeah, too bad about the nice old building there on Hester that it undermined and caused the destruction of. But then, that makes it so much simpler to upzone and buildup this corner of Chinatown. Thank you, Madame Chin.

The rest of it is bad enough, but that base is shocking .

The image above from BoweryBoogie is fairly true to the form first presented in a blurry camera phone shot of a construction site rendering. Normally when a building takes 4 and-a-half years to go up, one can expect some reworking of the design or materials, but the Wyndham seems to have adhered closely to its original design. Oh well.

Shocking? Hardly! Wow, what is shocking about this decent modernist in-fill? This is what makes NY interesting. The mix of striking buildings and conservative buildings.

Hard to see in that photo but the glass down low around the base is a crazy zebra-stripey / black & white / wood-grainey mess.

Bowery Boogie has a close-up of the base, and claims it's marble, but I don't buy it:

The last of the scaffolding was recently pried from the hotel, revealing a marble base and the sleek entryway taking shape behind it. Meanwhile, the marquee above 93 Bowery has three center docks presumably for flagpoles.

    Very '60's looking base.
