I was about to say the same MTG, Id love to go back and see these periods in NY history that i wish i had witnessed and are a big basis for why i love the city in the first place.

What is funny to me is that 30 years ago, those people would have been heckled. People would have thrown things at them. It looks like an old SaturdayNightLive parody. NYC.... the Village... did not attract the kind of people who would stand on line for a friggin' cupcake. Thank you very much. You went down there in search of other things...
Be that as it may, I will agree that NYC is a better city now. It could not have gone on as it was in the 1970's. And when murders are hovering at around 2,000 a year... well that speaks for itself.
BUT you can't deny that there was much more genuine creativity in the city back then. And that counts for a lot. Priorities were different. NYC still had a very special place on the cultural scene.

You could describe the 70s as a lightbulb shining brightly just before it burns out. Luckily, someone changed the bulb.
