My fear is it's going to look like another anonymous Sixth Avenue blob, with a gimmicky corner treatment.

    Off the shelf?

The cutout isn't looking as good with the facade panels going in. Just OK.

That's how I feel about this tower, it's just ok. I don't expect much from corp towers.

While not bad, this was a great site for something more iconic -- not for another Goldman Sachs, Chicago Hyatt relative.

    At least it lights up:

I've been by there quite a few times but I've lost interest in this building. It's just not very exciting. I don't even look up.

I like it. It's a colossal improvement over the crap that was there, and it's way better than the POS that HFZ is building nearby.

This is something that I rarely ever say, but I'm glad it's not taller. I'd hate to see more sunlight blocked from Bryant Park.

I do not really mind the shadows cast upon Central Park by the 57th Street supertalls. Those towers are bound to leave really skinny shadows, and not only is the park large enough to allow plenty of room to spare for sunlight, but percentage-wise, they would not drastically increase the already existing shadow cast by the existing towers along Central Park South. However, if this tower were, say, twice as tall, it would significantly affect the sunlight situation at Bryant Park. Sure, the tower *could* be better, but the same could be said about most buildings. Given what we got, I'm not complaining at all.

That's kinda imaginative. The curvature does evoke the shape of a Christmas tree.
