I never saw a rat in there, just LOTS of people buying lunch... but whatever. LL operates on false hyperbole.

Amigo, don't tell me that you oppose demolition of the POS con cebollas simply because of that deli.

LL: I posted that picture knowing you'd appreciate the squalor.

But PLEASE don't re-post it over and over again

If you want to refer to it, just make a link to the original.

While you may grow weary of seeing those shacks over and over, we can never have enough of Nigella.

If you are going to serve pasta from a bowl make sure the bowl has been heated and serve quickly. Do not stand there like an idiot.

No, but disparaging the small business that operates there by saying it's rat infested is an unfair exaggeration.
The optimal solution would be to build a new building which contains a deli in the base. That won't happen, and there will be one less breakfast/lunch take-out choice in the neighborhood. Just sayin'.

My hyperbole is not meant to be taken seriously.

I move to NY soon, amigo. Let's meet for frosty cervezas!

I would eat Chef Boyardee spaghetti from a can if Nigella offered it.

I hope you know that a "frosty cervezas" has a double meaning in some circles.

    Fabrizio,

As I've always said, you have one of the top senses of humour on this forum. I must admit, however, that while I respect all inclinations, I am a devoted muff eater!

Any updates on this site's new building? Proposed height, etc?

I went digging on the city's website for permits but I'm not sure I would even recognize that kind of info if I did click the right thing =/

Full demo Permits issued 11/16/09. There's nothing newer than that (not entirely true, they filed an amendment to the scaffolding plan a few days ago). They haven't filed for whatever they want to build there yet, unless they plan on changing the address.

After the stall it now looks like there is activity on this site. If I'm not mistaken it's now two floors shorter than what's seen in the last photo.

And today, amidst the bustle of Fashion Week across the street in Bryant Park, the Gourmet Deli Pizza on the corner at 1057 Sixth / 400 W 39th was CLOSED. Looks like it's gone for good (although Demo hasn't yet commenced).

New info for 1041 Sixth rom DOB:

    2E DEMOLITION NOTIFICATION RECEIVED
FULL DEMOLITION WILL BEGIN ON 12/08/2009

Job Type: DM - FULL DEMOLITION

Last Action: PERMIT ISSUED - ENTIRE JOB/WORK 01/22/2010
